The Town of Miami Lakes, along with the Youth Activities Task Force and the Elderly Affairs Committee, hosted the first annual Family Fishing Clinic on Saturday, June 22.
The clinic took place at the Miami Lakes Optimist Park Marina. Over a dozen children and their parents received instruction on engaging in fishing activities safely and properly.
Local officials coordinating the event included Mayor Michael Pizzi, Councilmember Manny Cid who serves on the Youth Activities Task Force, and Luis E. Collazo who chairs the Elderly Affairs Committee.
Recreation Aide Oscar Amuz gave the children helpful tips on humane de-hooking methods and the proper catch and release techniques.
