Giving Gators holds PPE giveaway at town hall

The Town of Miami Lakes at Town Hall on Jan. 30 hosted a drive-thru giveaway of personal protection equipment and other supplies that are needed during the pandemic.

     Presented by the Giving Gators charitable organization and free to town residents, supplies included 20,000 masks, 15,000 gloves; 2,000 bottles of hand sanitizer; 2,000 bags of non-perishable food and bottles of Vitamin C.

     Sponsors and donors included the U.S. Coast Guard Miami station; the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary; Farm Share; Pharma Natural Health Solutions; Goji Ozone Therapy Medical Group; the U.S. Census; Project Upstart and MBMG Medical Centers; M.O.P Foreign Cars Division; Papa John’s Pizza Miami Lakes.

    Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid estimated 250 cars came through the line during the two-hour event.

     Donations were also given to Miami-Dade County Public Schools; the Town of Miami Lakes and town committees, said Daylin Garcia, founder of Giving Gators. 

      Garcia said there were 25 volunteers, 15 of them high school students.
