Giving Gators hosted its first charity softball tournament, “Slugging for Toys” at Miami Lakes Optimist Park on Dec. 18. The purpose was to raise money and collect new toys for 180 students who attend area schools.
It was such a fun event for such a good cause that it may become an annual tournament, said Giving Gators Founder Daylin Garcia.
Team Hialeah won the day, which was sponsored by Layer 8 Solutions; Embrotech LLC; Air Cooling Inc.; UniCity Auto Parts Corp.; Abraham Ruiz; Miami Lakes Vice Mayor Jeffrey Rodriguez; Specialty Smiles, Miami Lakes Orthodontics and Family Dentistry & Orthodontics of Miami Lakes, Garcia said.
