Former Florida Governor and U.S. Sen. Bob Graham will lie in state at the Florida Capitol in Tallahassee on April 26.
Graham, 87, died of natural causes on April 16 in Gainesville.
The casket will be attended by military and state law enforcement honor guards from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The ceremony will be aired live on The Florida Channel and will be live-streamed on TheFloridaChannel.org.
Afterward, Graham will be buried during a private family service.
On May 11, the Graham family will host a public a memorial service at the Miami Lakes United Church of Christ in Miami Lakes. Additional details for the service are to be announced.
Bob Graham served in the Florida House of Representatives from 1966 - 1970, in the state Senate from 1970 -1978 and two terms as the Sunshine State’s 38th Governor, from 1979-1987.
As a U.S. senator, he was a leader in Washington, D.C. from 1987- 2005.
During his political career he was known for his efforts to protect Florida Everglades; investments in public education and oversight of America's intelligence services, an obituary released by his family said.
Graham had the ability to relate to most everyone he met and drew voters from both the Republican party and his own Democratic party.
During more than 400 work days he toiled alongside Floridians who did every kind of labor.
In retirement, Graham established the Bob Graham Center for Public Service at the University of Florida, which teaches the skills of civic engagement, leadership and service.
It’s also a period when he wrote four of his six books.
Graham is survived by his wife of 65 years, Adele Graham and their daughters Gwen Graham (and husband Steve Hurm), Cissy Graham McCullough (Billy), Suzanne Graham Gibson (Tom) and Kendall Graham; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis ordered U.S. and state flags to be flown at half-staff at government buildings until sunset on April 26.
