Students who need help paying for college may apply for The Graham Companies Scholarship, presented by the company and the Town of Miami Lakes and its Education Advisory Board.
Two $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors who live in town.
Applicants must submit a typed essay up to 750 words in length to describe goals and any obstacle he or she overcame.
The student should also demonstrate academic achievement and a commitment to community service.
The application includes a cover letter, along with sealed high school transcripts and three letters of recommendation from non-relatives.
At least one of those letters should be from a school official (teacher, principal, coach or counselor).
The deadline is June 3 to turn in application packages to Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main St.
The winners will be announced at the July 12 council meeting.
