Quality of life is a part of what makes Miami Lakes a beautiful place to live, and that includes respect for one’s neighbors, especially when it comes to noise.
Loud sounds from landscaping machines, TVs or speakers prompt the most frequent complaints the town said it receives, especially on weekends.
Complaints may be logged on the Miami Lakes Connect app, but town staff won’t see them until Monday.
Police must document a noise complaint as it is happening, the town said.
To request an officer to respond, call the non-emergency dispatch line, 305-476-5423.
Noise-making power tools, including leaf blowers, are banned outdoors from 8 p.m. – 7 a.m. weekdays and 8 p.m. – 9 a.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Sound from TVs, stereos and musical instruments can’t be at a “louder volume than is necessary for convenient hearing for the persons who are in the room, vehicle or chamber …” or plainly audible 100 feet from the source, town code says.
Such noise is not allowed from 11 p.m. – 7 a.m., except on July 4, Dec. 24 and Dec. 31, when it may continue until 12:00 a.m. on July 5, Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 … For the full description of noise violations see Sec. 16 of the municipal code.
