LBA Academy sets Open House for new students on April 5

Education Wednesday, April 2, 2014

The Latin Builders Association Construction and Business Management Academy Charter High School (LBA Academy), located at 13835 N.W. 97 Avenue, will celebrate its open house on April 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Future students and parents will be able to learn about the benefits of attending a public school with a private-school feel.

LBA Academy students benefit from small classes, a family environment and up-to-date technology which has transformed the school into a paperless environment; each student is issued an iPad and electronic textbooks.

In addition to honors courses, the academy also offers Advancement Placement and Dual Enrollment opportunities. LBA Academy’s educational approach has proven to be successful as it earned an “A” during its first school year and placed first in mathematics among 728 schools with 25 percent or more English Language-Learner (ELL) students.

The LBA Academy is the first business charter school started by a business association in the Unites States. Students benefit from this by meeting business leaders in the community who offer mentorship and internships.

During the open house, visitors will have the opportunity to meet current students, parents and teachers, tour the school and register on the spot, as well as meet with college counselors to provide information about post secondary options. Guests will also enjoy entertainment, free lunch and a free iPad case for the first 50 students registered.
