Longtime resident selected to the Fla. Assn. of Women Lawyers' 2014 Class of Leaders

Ameli Padron-Fragetta, a 21-year resident of Miami Lakes, has been selected to the Florida Association of Women Lawyers (FAWL) 2014 Class of Leaders in the Law.

The award is given to women lawyers throughout the state of Florida who have earned the respect of others professionally, been involved in activities for the betterment of the local community, exemplified the qualities of a positive role model, and advanced the cause of women in the community.

The award was presented at a FAWL Awards Gala held in conjunction with the midyear meeting of the Florida Bar in Orlando on June 25.

Padron-Fragetta is serving her second term as chair of the Town of Miami Lakes Planning and Zoning Board, on which she has served for five years. She has practiced law for more than 29 years and served for over nine years as a Traffic Infractions Hearing Officer and Magistrate.

She has served as president of the Miami-Dade Chapter of FAWL, the Miami Lakes Bar Association, the Loch Ness Homeowners Association, and the Royal Oaks Professional Center Condominium Association.

Padron-Fragetta has performed thousands of hours of service as a member of the Florida Bar Traffic Court Rules, Professional Ethics and Grievance committees, as a Girl Scout assistant troop leader, as a worker building four Habitat for Humanity homes, a member of the Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church choir, and as a performed, set builder, house manager, and board member at two South Florida community theaters.
