M. Lakes Branch library hosts free public events during November

Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during November:

For Children and Families:

Reading Ready Toddler Storytime - Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their care givers at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 20.

Family Game Day! – Take a break from holiday stress and enjoy classic board games for the whole family. From Sorry to Chess to Legos and Monopoly, there is something to entertain family and friends at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 29.

For Teens:

Teen Club presents Hour of Code – Bright and Smart presents an Hour of Code. Using Scratch, teens will design and create on the computer. For ages 12-18. Made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board. Meets at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.

Lego Robotics – Create Lego Mindstorms Robots! Designed for ages 12-18 and made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board. Meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25.

Make it! Dueling MaKey Makey– Be creative, inventive, and imaginative by turning the whole world into a keyboard. Make + Key = MaKey Makey, an invention kit for the 21st century. Turn everyday objects into touch pads and combine them with the internet. A simple kit for beginners or experts to expand on art, engineering and everything in between. Program made possible by the Knight Foundation. Meets at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 22.

For Adults:

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Community Outreach – A member of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s staff will visit the library to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency. Meets at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 26.

Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
