M. Lakes Library offers free events for November

Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during November:

For Children and Families:

Fun Stories for the Family – Stories on demand for ages 5 and up at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18.

Saturday Matinee at the Library – Miami Lakes Branch presents family friendly films. Movie is “Inside Out” at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 7. 

Reading Ready Toddler Storytime – Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their caregivers. For ages 18 months to 3 years old at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, November 5,12 and 19.

Paws To Read – Certified therapy dogs listen to children read aloud which can help with reading skills, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 14.

For Teens:

Tween Book Club – A children’s book club for ages 8-12 that meets once a month to discuss the chosen book. This month’s title is “The Power of Poppy Pendle” by Natasha Lowe. Meets at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 14.

Teen Club – Teens meet to play video games, watch anime, draw or discuss books. Movie screening either San Andreas or Jurassic World at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays November 10 and 24. 

International Game Day at the Library – Celebrate the 8th annual International Games Day with board games, DS battles, the ancient game of Go, balloon tosses and much more. Meets at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 21.

For Adults: 

Go Club of Miami Lakes – Now everyone can embark on a journey and uncover the ancient game of strategy, attack and defense, the Game of Go. Meets from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays, November 7, 14, 21 and 28.

Book Discussion Group - This month’s title is “Noah’s Compass” by Anne Tyler at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 17.

Commissioner Esteban Bovo Jr.’s Community Outreach – This provides an opportunity for the community to speak with the Commissioner and/or his representative from 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, November 9.

USCIS Information Table – United States Citizenship and Immigration Service staff will provide information, materials, and answer general questions regarding the citizenship process at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 30.

Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
