Dana DeLisa, a graduate from Syracuse University with a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre, performed professionally for nine years in New York City. DeLisa had roles such as Maria in “West Side Story,” Luisa in “The Fantastiks!” and Eliza Doolittle in the Broadway National Tour of “My Fair Lady.”

DeLisa is now hosting a workshop called “Acting a Song” taking place at The Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street, Miami Lakes.

The workshop, scheduled for Saturday, June 13 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Sunday, June 14 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m., will help guide those interested in auditioning for musicals.

“I will teach attendees how to successfully connect to a song, find the journey of the piece and present it in an audition room setting,” said DeLisa. “The skills attendees will learn will help every time they perform, whether in a show or audition.”

The deadline to register for the workshop is May 29. The cost is $200 per student with 50 percent, $100 non-refundable deposit, due at the time of registration. Balance is due before the first day of the workshop.

Students must arrive with two songs learned. Sheet music should be provided to instructor two weeks before the workshop by emailing ddelisa@hotmail.com or Ed Sagi at edsagi010@comcast.net. Visit www.mainstreetplayers.com or call 305-558-3737 for more information.
