Main Street Players is hosting New Theatre's Miami 1-Acts Festival on Saturday, December 20. The Miami 1-Acts Festival is 16 one-act plays performed in two programs and brings together over 75 artists in the form of playwrights, directors, acts, stage managers, crew members and support staff who volunteer their time to make this event a success.

Initially planned as an annual event in the summer of 2012, the festival expanded quickly to a bi-annual event and has once again expanded to take place in several venues across Miami-Dade County beginning with the Main Street Playhouse, 6766 Main Street in Miami Lakes.

The expansion was funded by the John S. and the James L. Knight Foundation as part of its Knights Art Challenge. This year’s festival has a diverse array of plays and themes that speak to the multi-cultural makeup of Miami-Dade County.

Program A begins at 4:30 p.m. and features eight one-act plays. Program B begins at 8:30 p.m. and features the remaining eight one-act plays.

Tickets are $12 per program or $20 for a two program pass. Celebrate the holiday season with happy hour scheduled for one hour before the shows to mingle with theatre folk. Enjoy a glass of wine for a $4 donation or beer for $3. For more information, full listing of the one-act plays featured, or to purchase tickets visit www.new-theatre.org or call 305-443-5909.
