The Pot, a timely and culturally relevant play for the community and nation, centers on the idea “Who Am I?” On Thanksgiving, a family comes together and is forced to reconsider notions of race, immigration, hope and the melting pot.
When Laura brings home her new boyfriend, Rick, an undocumented Mexican immigrant to her parents George, a newly elected state senator, and Mary, the pot is stirred and the heat is raised. Additionally, Laura’s adoptive brother, Nathan, has never known his biological parents or his biracial roots and must come to terms with his identity while writing a college term paper.
The Pot explores what defines, unites and separates people. The Pot was written by Glenn Hutchinson, is directed by Ivan R. Lopez, and will feature the talents of Pedro Sanon, Sofi Sassone, Clint Archambault, Melissa Ann Hubicsak, Joel Kolker, Clara Lyzniak, Dylan Nuñez and Michelle L. Antelo.
