On August 22-23, the Main Street Merchants hosted a Pop-Up Gallery Weekend in the former Limelight storefront across from the fountain. With 14 artists showcasing their original pieces of artwork, members of the Miami Lakes community, guests from Shula’s Hotel and Hotel Indigo, and other out-of-town visitors all enjoyed a bit of visual art during the special weekend.

Highlights from the event included musical entertainment on Friday evening by Venezuelan pianist Manuel Gamez and his friend Phillips Cachik a percussionist from New York, and on Saturday evening, the Gallery hosted Miami Lakes resident Andres Lasaga.

Complimentary appetizers were provided by Main Street restaurants Italy Today and On the Border along with Costco Wholesale. Two attendees each night received a surprise gift of a set of Cobb Theatre movie tickets.

Pop-Up Gallery Weekend is an event that brings the community together on Main Street to appreciate regional art, culture and entertainment. It runs each month on select weekends inside a vacant storefront which transforms into a gallery filled with painters, photographers, mixed media artists and potters/sculptors.

The next scheduled weekend for the Pop-Up Gallery is September 26-27 at 6709 Main Street.
