Community Wednesday, October 1, 2014

Palm Springs North (PSN) Town Center and Mater Lakes Academy’s PTSO invites the community to the PSN Maters Neighborhood Walk on Sunday, October 5. The walk will raise awareness for Autism and will commence at Mater Lakes Academy, 17300 N.W. 87 Ave, and end at the PSN Town Center. Registration for the walk begins at 11 a.m. and the walk begins at 12 noon and the fee to walk is $10.

Officials like Miami-Dade County Comissioner Esteban Bovo Jr. and State Representative Manny Diaz will be in attendance and a police escort will be guiding participants. A car show with a retired City of Hialeah fire truck will greet participants at the end of the walk in the PSN Town Center along with food trucks, an obstacle course and local vendors.

Local schools, PSN Elementary, Spanish Lakes Elementary, Lawton Chiles Middle School, Barbara Goleman High School, Bob Graham Education Center, Mater Lakes Academy, Miami Lakes K-8 Center, and Country Club Middle School will be joining Mater Lakes Academy in their walk and cause.

“Words cannot even begin to explain how important a cause and event like this is to our entire community,’ said Barbara Zino, Mater Lakes Academy's PTSO’s President. “There is at least one parent and child we all know that struggles daily with autism and to simply belong.”
