Mayor’s Gala raises record amount for Special Needs Advisory Board

     Partiers turned out in black tie for a Hollywood Nights glamour-themed Mayor’s Gala to support the Special Needs Advisory Board. 

     The Sept. 23 event at Roberto Alonso Community Center was presented by UniVida Medical Centers, which contributed $10,000. Overall, the night raised $32,302 for the board, $7,300 more than last year.

     “It was an incredible gala,” Mayor Manny Cid said at the Nov. 14 council meeting. “We are raising money to ensure we are a model town for inclusion,” he said in a video to promote the event.

     Drew and Cindy Vidaurrazaga of Vida Custom Designs sold engraved tumblers and contributed $400 to the cause. Other sponsors were Fantasy Designers which built and donated the party space inside the community center; Bacardi contributed the drinks; Chela’s Cocteleria supplied the food, said Joseph Sosa, assistant to the mayor.

The band 30 Hertz Music performed.
