Miami-Dade Public Library offers virtual courses

The library is offering virtual programming, including some events sponsored by the Miami Lakes Education Advisory Board.

     Activities will be presented via Zoom.

     Space is limited and you must sign up in advance.

     Registrants will receive a Zoom link via email, 24 hours before a class begins.

Join Salaam Green, Certified Truth Race and Reconciliation Facilitator, for a virtual workshop exploring the benefits of journaling, creative writing, and expressive writing in overall wellness. Please be prepared with paper or a journal and a pen or pencil.

Virtual Author Series with J. Scott Savage

Join J. Scott Savage as he presents his latest children’s book, “The Lost Wonderland Diaries.”

Enjoy a discussion on the power of creativity and find out about kids who made the world a better place by using their imaginations. Plus, learn how to come up with your own amazing story idea in less than five minutes.

Salsa dancing for kids and teens

Get ready to dance at home! Put on comfortable shoes and follow dance instructor Susy Q as she teaches the steps and a beginner pattern to salsa dancing. It is best to practice on a hard surface (not carpet).

Kids in the Kitchen - Seeded chocolate cranberry bark

Make a delicious, seeded chocolate cranberry bark treat just in time for Valentine’s Day. Gather ingredients from your home kitchen and follow a step-by-step demonstration by instructors from Kids Cooking Green. Adult assistance recommended.

Celebrate Black History Month - Stories with Donna Washington

Saturday, Feb. 20, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Join us online and celebrate Black History Month with master storyteller and author Donna Washington as she shares a variety of interactive African and African American folktales. Made possible by the Town of Miami Lakes Educational Advisory Board.

Adult Learning Academy

Free online courses taught by certified teachers that will help you gain important skills for life, work and school.

Subjects include Spanish as a second language; English as a second language; Adult Basic Education – Foundational Reading, Foundational Math, SAT  preparation.

For adults who live in Miami-Dade County there are 10-seek or 4-week long courses.
