Miami Lakes Branch Library has free programs during May

Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs are available for the public during May:

For Children and Families:

Moving Up and Ahead - Your Child’s Transition – The workshop targets families of children transitioning to Kindergarten, Elementary, Middle or High school, and helps parents to develop the skills they need to be effective partners with school staff. Program is sponsored by the Parent Academy of Miami-Dade County Public Schools in partnership with the Miami-Dade Public Library System. Meets at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18.

For Teens:

Tween Book Club – A children’s book club for ages 8-12 that meets once a month to discuss the chosen book. This month’s title is “Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins. Meets at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 23.

For Adults: 

Book Discussion Group – This month’s title is “Winter in Madrid” by C. J. Sansom. Meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19.

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s Outreach – A member of Rep. Diaz-Balart’s staff will visit the library to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 27.

Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
