Miami Lakes Branch Library hosts free February programs

Miami Lakes Branch Library has the following programs available for the public during February:

For Children:

Reading Ready Toddler Storytime – Stories, songs and activities for toddlers and their care givers. Meets at 11 a.m. on Thursdays, February 20 and 27.

For Teens:

Tween Book Club – This is a tween book club for ages 8-12. Members meet once a month to discuss the chosen book of the month. Registration required. Meets at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 22.

Teen Club: Games and More – Teens meet to play video games, watch anime, draw or discuss books. For ages 12-19 years. Meets at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25.

Teen Open Mic! Calling all Lyricists, Poets, Performers and Storytellers! Sing, read, do some stand up, play an instrument, or just come for the show. Attendees may perform original or material celebrating Black History Month and African American Culture. All genres are welcome! All performing participants between the ages of 12-19 will receive 2 hours of community service time. See staff for details. Meets at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 22.

For Adults:

Navigating the Affordable Care Act – Have questions about the new Affordable Care Act? Meet with a representative from SRA International and get your questions answered on the new law, the Health Marketplace and learn what it means for you. Meets at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 25.

Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart Community Outreach – A member of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s staff will visit the library to discuss federal issues or any problem a constituent may have with a federal agency. Meets at 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26.
