Miami Lakes Congregational Church Concert Series presents a Fall Piano Rectial performed by concert pianist Dr. Adolfo Vidal. The concert with be at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13, at the church located at 6701 Miami Lakeway South.
Vidal will be performing an all-Chopin music piano recital that includes the 12 etudes Op. 25 and three polonaises. Chopin's etudes are some of the most challenging and evocative pieces of all the works in concert piano repertoire.
While still a teenager in Warsaw, Chopin heard Nicolo Paganini perform his Caprices for Solo Violin and was impressed with what the composer had achieved in this music. It was extraordinarily complex works for the violin that presented specific technical problems yet managed to be exciting and engaging. Chopin resolved to write something similar for the piano and over the next few years, he did.
Chopin's polonaises are generally the best known of all polonaises in classical music. The polonaise is a dance of Polish origin and is the composer's uplifting expression of his love for his native Poland.
Vidal is a Venezuelan pianist with a doctorate degree in music from the University of Miami and piano studies at the Royal Conservatory of Music. The suggested donation is $15. A reception will follow the performance. The program is supported by South Florida Friends of Classical Music and Steinway & Sons which is providing a grand piano for the occasion.
