Miami Lakes Garden Club marked its 50th anniversary on March 7 during with a dinner celebration at Italy Today on Main Street.
The club was founded in 1965, one of the first to be created in the fledgling Miami Lakes community which opened in 1962.
Members of the Garden Club have completed many projects in and around Miami Lakes over the years, including tree plantings, butterfly gardens, school projects and landscaping projects.
They have also donated books about gardening and horticulture to the Miami Lakes Branch Library, usually in memory of deceased members. The club also conducts monthly membership meetings which feature well known guest speakers in the gardening and horticulture fields.
