Miami Lakes Library hosts Act!vated Story Theatre

Community Wednesday, February 4, 2015

Act!vated Story Theatre, a touring children’s theatre troupe, performed at the Miami Lakes  Branch Library, 6699 Windmill Gate Road, on Thursday, January 15, with the support of a grant provided by Target stores.

Following the private performance and workshop at the library, the troupe then presented a performance of multicultural folktales open to the public the next day. The troupe offered a participatory workshop in American Sign Language for children and their parents.

Each Act!vated performance consists of two multicultural folktales. The performances are presented with dynamic storytelling including physical comedy, zany props, and costumes, audience participation, music, American Sign Language and a unique set in the form of an oversized book with pages that turn to reveal different scenery. Act!vated Story Theatre productions are high-enegry dramatizations of folktales that are “act!vated” not simply told.
