Miami Lakes Library sets November programs

Miami Lakes Branch Library announced the following programs that are available for the public during  November:

For Children and Families:

Talking is Teaching. Talk, Read, Sing for Toddlers en dos idiomas – Join the branch for bilingual stories, songs and activities for toddles. Best for ages  18 months to 3 years old. Space is limited. Scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 16.  

Chess Club – Sharpen skills by playing other fans of this classic game. Scheduled at 3 p.m. on Wednesdays, November 22 and 29.

Science in the City – Enjoy hands-on lessons infused with experiments to spark interest in STEM. Each new lesson builds upon the previous lesson. For ages 8-18 years old. Space is limited so contact branch to register. Meets at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, November 18.
Library Lego Club – Let imagination run wild to build and create with LEGO. All ages welcome at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 25.

Create Sushi Rolls – Children will learn the special techniques Samurai and Benihana sushi chefs use in this interactive Callifornia roll-making demonstration. All materials provided. Contact the branch for registration and allergy information. Scheduled at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 18.

For Teens:

Dungeons and Dragons Club - Play this fantasy role playing game and create your own adventure. For ages 13 and up at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November and 20.

Teen Club – Play video games, watch anime, draw, play Dungeons & Dragons, or discuss books at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 28.

For Adults: 

Citizenship Conversation Circle – Join in practicing English for the citizenship questions. This is an informal group to help participants feel comfortable in speaking for their naturalization interview at 3 p.m. on Friday, November  17.

Meditation Classes – Join in for meditation derived from Raja Yoga, a discipline that helps develop inner calm, clear thinking and personal well being. Scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday, November 17.

Book Discussion Group – Call or visit the branch for this month’s title. Scheduled for 6 p.m. on Tuesday, November 21.

USCIS Information Table – U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service staff will provide information, materials and answer general questions about the citizenship process, at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 27.

Mario Diaz-Balart Outreach Table – A member of Congressman Mario Diaz-Balart’s staff will be available to discuss federal issues and address any concerns a constituent may have with a federal agency from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, November 22.

Miami Lakes Branch Library is located at 6699 Windmill Gate Road and is open Monday and Tuesday from noon to 8 p.m., and Wednesday through Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The branch is closed on Sundays. For more information, call 305-822-6520.
