Miami Lakes Zonta Club presents Ida Snow Award to longtime member Jan Hammond

Community Wednesday, July 2, 2014

The Zonta Club of Miami Lakes presented the coveted Ida Snow Award to long time Zontian Jan Hammond at its May general membership meeting.

The award is named in honor of the charter president of the Miami Lakes club, and the mother of local jeweler, Gary Snow of Snow’s Jewelers.

Hammond’s service to the Miami Lakes Zonta Club, and to the community, encompassed the successful coordination of the club’s signature fundraising event, Claws for Celebration. The April 2014 event yielded over $26,000 for local charities and for Zonta International programs focused on the advancement of women and girls.

The recipient of the Ida Snow Award is chosen by secret ballot and recognizes the outstanding service a member performs through her volunteer efforts to advance the status of women by giving of her time and energy to service projects, fundraising, and serving in leadership capacities.

Snow’s Jewelers generously provides a one-of-a-kind pendant in honor of their outstanding service, and in honor of Ida Snow.
