University of Miami’s Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center representatives (from left) Thais Lopez and Katie Repici, received a check for $7,032 from Roberto Alonso, representing the Alonso family, and Andrea Graham Rechichi, representing The Graham Companies. The monies were raised during the inaugural Miami Lakes “Cars for a Cure” classic car show held in late April on Main Street. Alonso expressed his gratitude to all the volunteers, including his family and two sisters, for making the event a success. While the first show attracted 170 classic cars and over 1,000 people, Alonso said the team is already planning to grow the 2016 “Cars for a Cure” to raise more funds for cancer research.
