Olympic Games in Miami Lakes

Campers at Miami Lakes Athletic Club celebrated the Paris Olympics with their own games at the 

Miami Lakes gym. Four teams made banners and wore colors from the flags of the United States, Italy, Colombia and the Dominican Republic during a parade of nations. 

The games began with athletes holding their flags and inflatable torches. The campers’ tribute to international competition happened in the same facility where USA Basketball’s men’s and women’s 3x3 teams trained during the past year before becoming Olympians and competing this summer in France.

The opening ceremonies were followed by egg and spoon races, basketball tosses and ring tosses among other contests. Nine medals were awarded; Team USA and Team Dominican Republic dominated.
