Miami Lakes offers free open table tennis play at the Roberto Alonso Community Center, 16500 N.W. 87 Avenue, every Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 3:30 p.m. All levels and ages are welcome to participate and the town provides paddles and balls, although participants may bring their own paddles.
“Table Tennis has been an Olympic Sport since 1988,” said Vice Mayor Manny Cid. “Bringing more awareness to the sport while creating a venue where residents can compete against each other is a fantastic community bonding tool.
The United States has yet to win a Summer Olympics Table Tennis medal. Hopefully we will see more folks participating in ping pong and secure the first US Olympic medal in the sport.” For more information about the program, contact Leisure Services manager Katya Lysak at 305-698-9308 or by email at lysakk@miamilakes-fl.gov
