Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church will host its 49th Annual Spring Festival fundraising event on the Miami Lakes school’s grounds from March 2 – 5.
Fans of the festival can expect its traditional offerings, and new entertainment, too.
Rides will include a Ferris Wheel; the Free Fall; Polar Express; Screamer; Vertigo; Orbiter; Firestorm; Cliffhanger, a giant slide and many more.
There will also be an international food court, band performances and DJs.
New this year is a lounge for those 21 and older.
“We will have a brand-new, adults-only lounge with domino tables, high tops and ambient music to relax and enjoy time away from the fast pace of the midway,” said David
Argote, festival co-chairman.
Booths at the food court will offer dishes from Latin/Cuban menus as well as tastes from Mexico; Colombia; Jamaica; the Philippines and Spain. Standard fare found at fairs including barbecue, pizza, burgers, funnel cakes, smoothies and Caesar salads will also be available for purchase.
“Our Spring Festival is not like any other festival,” said Rev. Flavio Montes of the church.
“We are a family-oriented event, run by hundreds of volunteers who are also parishioners and school parents. ... It is a small world of different cultures mixed into one, all for a good cause and we get to have fun and meet great people,” Montes said.
Admission to the festival and parking are free. Rides require tickets that may be purchased at the church office or at the event, at 15801 NW 67th Ave.
Advance sale ticket prices for rides are $60 for four days, $30 Thursday and Friday, and $35 Saturday and Sunday. Please note that incorrect prices were listed in the newspaper version of this story.
