Community By Megan Jacobo, Reporter Thursday, April 2, 2020

History

The Cypress Village
Condominiums were built in the early 1970s.
The community is in the heart of Miami Lakes, and has multiple entrances.
Visitors may enter from two turns along Fairway Drive or at Miami Lakes Drive. Both drives border the 412-unit, low rise development.

Amenities

Although the neighborhood is open, it has a 24-hour security that roams the property.
The apricot-colored buildings are all two stories except for one that has three floors.
Each condo is on one level; there are up to three bedrooms.
There is a tennis court

and a pool. There is also a clubhouse that residents may rent for a parties.
The community is just east of the Cypress Village Shopping Center and is in walking distance to shops, and restaurants there as well as the dining, shopping and theater options along Main Street.
Graham Park is also nearby.
The Palmetto
Expressway and Interstate 75 are the closest highways.
The A-rated Miami Lakes K-8 Center, for students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grade, is about 1 mile away.

Who lives there?

Cypress Village has a mix of residents: young families, empty nesters and retirees.
Most residents own their condos but there are some renters too.
Theodora Donner has lived in the neighborhood for 31 years.
“It’s very safe,” Donner said. “We have security. Overall, I like it here. It’s quiet and all the neighbors know each other.”

What does it cost?

A two-bedroom, one bath condo recently sold for $191,000 and another with two baths is being offered for sale at $195,000.
Units rent from $1,300 to $1,700 per month.
The monthly homeowner association fee goes up to $326, depending on how many bedrooms the unit has.
