History
Loch Lomond was developed during the 1960s and 1970s by The Graham Companies.
A unique feature in Loch Lomond is that all of the 185 homes are custom built.
There are a few houses that share the same design, but the rest of the home styles vary.
Visitors will see Mediterranean houses, modern and traditional brick.
A fun fact: streets are named for famous golf courses in Scotland.
Loch Lomond is one of the most coveted communities in town to live in.

Guards at the security gate record visitors’ license plates before granting access to the community.
Guards also patrol neighborhood streets.
There are two small playgrounds, the neighborhood is well-lit and it has sidewalks.
Large oak trees fill the landscape that is well- maintained.
Homes are on large lots, sometimes more that 15,000 square feet, and are among the largest residential properties in town.
Loch Lomond is near major highways such as the Palmetto Expressway and Interstate 75.
Schools that are close by include Miami Lakes Middle School, Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic School and Montessori Children’s House of Miami Lakes.
Miami Lakes Optimist Park is also a hop, skip and a jump across Northwest 67th Avenue, and is right next to the Windmill Gate Shopping Center and the public library.
Who lives there
Business professionals including doctors and attorneys call Loch Lomond home.
NFL Hall of Fame Coach Don Shula used to live on the 16th hole.
Professional athletes have chosen Loch Lomond, including Jim Mandich, the late Miami Dolphins tight end, and currently, a professional golfer.
Attorney Alex Penelas, former mayor of Miami-Dade County who is campaigning for that office again, is building a new waterfront home.
Perla Tabares Hantman, the chair of the Miami-Dade County School Board, has lived here for 40 years.
“While I have lived in more than one house, I have never left my close-knit neighborhood,” Tabares Hantman said in an email. “Loch Lomond is truly one of the jewels of the town of Miami Lakes.”
What does it cost?
Homes listed for sale range from $979,000 to $1.6 million. There is an optional annual homeowner’s association fee of $50, which gives residents a special decal that grants them faster access through security.
Loch Lomond is one of several special taxing districts in town. Homeowners pay $2,489.80 each year, which covers costs for street lighting, security, maintenance and capital improvements.
