Our Neighborhoods Loch Lomond West

Community By David Snelling, Reporter Thursday, March 19, 2020

History

Loch Lomond West is a townhome community in
Miami Lakes bordered by Miami Lakeway North and Fairway Drive.
Built in 1971 by The
Graham Companies, the community has 75 single-story homes that surround a lake.

Amenities

Some residents of Loch Lomond West have water views (shown in photo above) and some residents can see golf carts whiz past on
Shula’s Golf Course.
“It’s a pretty nice view,” said Realtor Luisa Mackay of The Keyes Company.
The villas have large shutters in front and on the water side of the buildings there are yellow and white awnings that shade generously-sized patios.
Below are docks, where a blue row boat was waiting for fun.
The community is in a great location for those who enjoy walking.
A less than a half-mile stroll that many dog walkers take south along Fairway Drive leads to the Cypress Village Shopping Center.
Also nearby: Graham Park; the shops along Main Street, restaurants, Shula’s Athletic Club and theaters.
The units have two or three bedrooms and two baths, and are about 1,460 square feet.
There is street parking and each home has two spaces.

Who lives there?

Mackay said most residents are middle-aged adults and there are some renters.

What it costs

Each owner pays $525 per year in homeowner association fees that are used to maintain the lake and landscaping and paint residents’ homes and the wall that surrounds the community.
Currently there are no villas for sale.
During the past six months, four properties were sold for prices that ranged from $297,000 to $349,000.

CORRECTION

The Feb. 21 issue of
The Miami Laker and the Our Neighborhoods column

Windmill Gate does not have a swimming pool.
