History

Oak Villas is a townhome community of 87 units that border the south side of the Palmetto Expressway. It was developed by Secasa Builders Corp. in 1997.

Amenities

There are entrances at Northwest 67th Avenue opposite the fire station and the Palmetto Expressway overpass as well from the service road that runs alongside the Palmetto.

There are three styles of homes that are all two levels.

The smallest units have two bedrooms and two baths; most homes have three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths.

Each home has two parking spots.

There is a community pool, which is temporarily closed due to the

COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents of Oak Villas can walk to the Windmill Gate Shopping Center and the public library.

Miami Lakes Middle School for kids enrolled in grades six through eight is nearby, as is Optimist Park.

Who lives there?

The community is a mix of young families, middle aged folks and retirees.

Marlin Romero is an original owner and the president of the community’s homeowner’s association.

He said he enjoys living in Miami Lakes because it’s close to everything, and that’s especially true for residents of Oak Villas.

“The townhomes are spacious and the people here are good and we all help each other out,” Romero said. “We keep everything nice and clean here.”

Lynn Matos, a Realtor with RE/MAX Unique Realty, describes Oak Villas as a wonderful community.

“[They have] excellent floor plans and lovely enclosed patios,” Matos said. “There is easy access to the public library, great Miami Lakes restaurants and shops and the Optimist Park.”

What does it cost?

Each property owner pays $100 a month in homeowner’s association fees according to Top Service Property Management which serves the HOA.

The most recent sale was in November for a three- bedroom, two bath home that sold for $330,000, Matos said.
