Red Palmetto Shoppes is a retail plaza on the eastern border of Miami Lakes. It’s well known for its destination tenants, including a Chick-fil-A restaurant that routinely has customers waiting in their cars for the drive-thru.
Built by the Courtelis Company of Miami and opened in 2008, Red Palmetto Shoppes is at 16000 NW 57th Ave., south of the Palmetto Expressway.
Ham Palmetto LLC purchased the property, with approximately 65,000 square feet of space, in 2017.
Another of its 16 tenants is Susette Coiffeur salon, an established business which been located in the complex for nearly three years.
“There is a lot of parking, and it’s a good location with a lot of restaurants,” said salon owner Susette Portilla. “Most of my clients are from Miami Lakes, and it’s easy for them to find us.”
The retail center has three buildings that form an L-shape and is anchored at the southern end by an Office Depot store. There are two standalone businesses in the parking lot: the Chick-fil-A and TD Bank.
Steve Shin, manager of Red Palmetto Shoppes, said, “We have a nice mix of straight retail, like Office Depot and our restaurants and there is an orthodontist and dentist, too.”
Shin said the former Nutrition S’Mart space, all 10,000 square feet, is being renovated by new tenant Pediatrics Associates.
“They have other locations,” Shin said. “This will be a bigger, regional facility.”
The tenants are: TD Bank; Chick-fil-A; Taco Shop Mexican Grill; Cosmo Prof; Sweet Smile Dental; Sushi Runner; La Bodeguita Meat Market; a Wells Fargo ATM; Firehouse Subs; Soflo Barber Shop; Express Employment Professionals; Veronica’s Insurance; Orthodontic Specialists of Florida and Susette Coiffeur.
There are no vacancies, Shinn said.
