Our Neighborhoods Regatta Pointe

Community By Megan Jacobo, Reporter Wednesday, April 29, 2020

History
The Graham Companies developed Regatta Pointe in 1994.
At the southwest end of Picnic Park West, Oak Lane becomes Balgowan Road, which leads to the entrance of the community of 112 townhomes.
Amenities
Drivers will be stopped at the first guardhouse that serves several communities and visitors’ tags are documented.
A second guardhouse serves Regatta Pointe’s residents.
Some folks whose townhomes are along the western banks of Graham Dairy Lake enjoy views of the water and a large fountain.
There is a community pool and assigned parking.
The houses, both single and two story, are painted beige, have clay barrel tile roofs and many have a garage.
The community is in walking distance to Picnic Park West, where the Farmer’s Market and free yoga classes happen on Saturdays. The town shows movies at night there, too.
The community is also near the Park Centre Shops, which has many restaurants and a CVS drug store.
The Palmetto Expressway and Interstate 75 are both a short distance away.
Bob Graham Education Center, for students enrolled in kindergarten through eighth grades and which earned an “A” rating from the state is also close by.
Who lives there?
There is a mix of renters and property owners, some of whom have lived there for a quarter century.
Former Miami Lakes Councilwoman Mary Collins, for whom the nearby community center is named, has lived in Regatta Pointe since it opened.
“I love it!,” Collins said. “It’s quiet, it’s safe and it’s friendly.”
David Andres, a six-year resident with his family, said,
“Regatta Pointe is the safest place I ever lived, in Miami Lakes and in my life.”
What does it cost?
Since July, 2019, just one home, with two bedrooms and two baths was sold, for $280,000.
Townhomes rent for around $1,980 - $2,100 per month for the same size unit.
Monthly fees range from $241 to $401, depending on square footage, according to New Horizons Property Management, which serves the homeowners association.
