History

Serenity Pointe is a quiet, private community on the west side of Miami Lakes.
The neighborhood is at 14442 N.W. 87th Court, on the west side of Northwest 87th Avenue between Miami Lakes Drive and Commerce Way.
It was built in 1996 and became part of the town when Miami Lakes incorporated in 2000.
About 149 families are currently living within its hedge-lined walls, according to the homeowner’s association.
“We are a family-oriented community,” said Julie Fernandez, a resident and a member of the homeowner’s association.

Amenities

Residents can enjoy a small playground for young
children and a picnic shelter.
Some homeowners have their own pools.
Visitors are met by a guard at the front gate.
Commercial vehicles are not permitted to park inside

the community unless the
trucks belong to contractors
who are performing work there.
Parking boats in driveways or yards is also forbidden and violators are fined.
Kids who live in Serenity Pointe get involved in helping to keep their neighborhood neat and clean.
As part of a community club called the Juniors, they participate in beautification projects and earn service hours for school.

Who lives there

Serenity Pointe has a mix of families and retirees.
It is convenient for
commuters as it is close to Interstate 75, the Gratigny Parkway, the Palmetto Expressway and Florida’s Turnpike.
It is also steps away from Barbara Goleman Senior High School and Bob Graham
Education Center.
New home buyers and tenants are screened before they move in to their houses.

What it costs

The average price of a home is about $300,000, according to the homeowners
association.
The website Realtor.com
had one listing for a pending sale of a single-story, four bedroom house for $399,999.
Serenity Pointe uses a management company to oversee the maintenance, finances and administrative services for the neighborhood.
The management company also hires contractors to maintain the playground, roads and landscaping, a signature feature of the community.
A security firm protects residents and guards are on duty 24 hours a day.
Homeowners pay $35 a month in HOA fees.
Ongoing projects include maintaining the front entrance and rear exit of the neighborhood, painting the walls and trimming hedges.
Upgrading the security service with electronic surveillance is also in the
community’s plans.
