The Miami Lakes Public Safety Committee recognized officers with the Miami-Dade Police Department’s Miami Lakes District and firefighters with Miami-Dade Fire Rescue during its annual ceremony.
Plaques given out during the Sept. 10 town council meeting were to honor a year of hard work by the officers and fire fighters who serve in town.
Spotlighted this year were the General Investigation Unit from the police department and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue Lt. Angelica Drozd.
Miami-Dade Police Lt. Eddy Ulloa commended the agency’s officers.
“I’m truly, truly proud of the great work [they’ve] done,” Ulloa said.
The General Investigation Unit has a sergeant, three detectives and four traffic enforcement officers.
They investigate non-fatal shootings; residential and vehicular burglaries; thefts; non-domestic assault and battery offenses and other crimes.
Public Safety Committee member Darwin Villavicencio, a lieutenant in the fire department, accepted the award on behalf of Drozd. She has served with Battalion 14 since 2005 in Miami Lakes. Chief Fire Officer Daniel C. Bolline III called her “a pivotal employee on multiple subjects.”
