Residents encouraged to shop in Small Business Saturday

Community Thursday, November 17, 2016

Miami Lakes Economic Development Committee is encouraging  residents to show their support for the local business community by “shopping small” on Small Business Saturday, November 26.

Small Business Saturday is a day dedicated to supporting small businesses across the country.  Founded by American Express in 2010, the day is scheduled each year on the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

In Miami Lakes, Small Business Saturday is on the same day as the annual Festival of Lights on Main Street.

Small businesses make up over 99 percent of the nation’s businesses and are the true drivers of the country’s economy. From the mom and pop shops to the family-owned restaurants that bring neighborhoods to life, residents are encouraged to show their support and celebrate small businesses for all they do for their communities.

During the shopping spree, be use to use #iheartmiamilakes #shoplocal on all social media outlets to show pride in the day.
