According to Adopt-A-Classroom.org, 75 percent of all classroom supplies are purchased out of pocket by teachers. South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union (SFEFCU), the largest Credit Union headquartered in Miami-Dade County and serves educators, students and the families of Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Miami Dade College, is hoping to lessen the load of 4 lucky South Florida teachers through a back-to-school social media contest.

The contest #WhyITeach and #MyFavoriteTeacher runs through September 30. The contest provides teachers with the opportunity to win $250 to purchase classroom supplies and to be praised by those who appreciate their hard work and generosity. Teachers can self-nominate or be nominated by students (past or present).

The campaign will take place across all of SFEFCU’s social media platforms including Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and participants must follow one of these to post an entry.

The rules of the contest: Teachers must be South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union members to claim their prize. The post needs to include the hashtag #WhyITeach or #MyFavoriteTeacher and SFEFCU’s social media handle (#SFEFCU), a picture and a caption that describes why you teach or why a teacher is your favorite, and teacher’s school, grade and the subject they teach.

Four winners will be selected at random from all qualifying entries and notified through social media. For more information about South Florida Educational Federal Credit Union visit www.sfefcu.org.
