Spanish Lake Elementary student James Diaz won the 2015 Contender Karate Cup in Galeria De Karate competition last month hosted by Hialeah Gardens High School. Diaz competed against a host of his karate-learning peers, out dueling them in the art of self defense and self discipline. His instructor, world renown karate master Miquel Ochoa, was on hand to watch his student kick away the competition. Ochoa works at the MG Martial Arts and Sports Center, where he trains a host of students. Diaz also won the 2015 Rocky Mountain Championship in Denver, Colorado in May.
