Miami Lakes area houses of worship have announced a variety of special holiday religious services and events.
Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church, 6600 Miami Lakeway North, will be holding special holiday services. On December 24 the church will have a 5 p.m. English vigil service and a bilingual midnight service. On December 25, an English service will be held at 10:30 a.m. and a Spanish service at 12:30 p.m.
On December 31, the church will have a 5 p.m. English vigil and on January 1, two Spanish services will be held at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. with an English service at 11 a.m.

Miami Lakes Congregational Church, 6701 Miami Lakeway South, has scheduled an Advent service to be held December 21 at 5 p.m. in the sanctuary. The service includes a prayer, scripture, a brief reflection, special music and communion.
A special Christmas Eve service will be held on December 24 at 5 p.m. which includes attention to those with special needs. Signing will be provided for the hearing impaired. Sound-canceling headphones will be available and visual supports provided during the service which will be held in the church’s courtyard.
With traditional Christmas carols, the scripture story of Jesus’ birth will be read while all young people and children will have an opportunity to participate in a Pageant. Costumes will be available for those who wish to be shepherds and angels, along with Mary, Joseph and the Three Kings. In case of inclement weather, the service will be held in the Fellowship Hall.
Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 18400 N.W. 68 Avenue, will host a Christmas Cantata, performed by the Chancel Choir on December 21 at the 10 a.m. worship service.
A Christmas Eve Candlelight Service will be held at 7 p.m. with participation from the Chancel Choir and the lighting of candles as a tribute to Jesus’ birth. Everyone in the community is invited to attend these services at this special time of the year.
Palm Vista Community Church will celebrate the advent season each Sunday with the lighting of the advent candles during the 10 a.m. Sunday worship service held at the Miami Lakes Middle School Auditorium, located at 6425 Miami Lakeway North.
Each candle represents the light of Christ’s coming as Messiah and Savior. The advent celebration comes to a dramatic conclusion at the Christmas Eve candle light service at 6 p.m. when the church will light the central Christ candle preaching from Luke 2:14. The church invites everyone to join in worshipping the risen Savior this advent season.

Chabad Miami Lakes will ignite a public nine-foot-tall menorah, followed by a community-wide celebration on the third day of Chanukah on Thursday, December 18 at 7 p.m. near Miami Lakes Town Hall, 6601 Main Street.
The ceremony will feature prominent community officials, politicians, and live chassidic dancers. The public menorah lighting was organized by Lubavitch Rabbi Mendel Weiss, director of Chabad Miami Lakes. Miami Lakes’ menorah is one of thousands of large public menorahs sponsored by Chabad throughout the world, helping children and adults of all walks of life discover and enjoy the holiday message.
