Community planning and facilitation expert James Anaston-Karas will be the special guest speaker at the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s monthly membership luncheon on Wednesday, February 5, in the Grand Ballroom of Shula’s Hotel on Main Street.
Networking starts at 11:30 a.m., luncheon at 12 noon.
Anaston-Karas has been retained by the Town of Miami Lakes to oversee and facilitate Council and public meetings for the town’s Strategic and Comprehensive Plans that will guide the next 10 years of Miami Lakes’ future growth.
Anaston-Karas, joined by town staff, will focus on “What can our Town do to Ensure a Thriving Business Environment in the Future?” The discussion will help identify key issues and opportunities that are important to the business owners of Miami Lakes.
A senior manager and certified facilitator with a 28-year history of accomplishments in public/private sector strategic planning, and development/redevelopment, Anaston-Karas uses various group techniques to compose strategic plans for senior management of local governments, not-for-profits, and businesses.
Anaston-Karas has served as a director of the South Florida Water Management District (Broward County Service Center), legislative manager for Broward County, and a policy coordinator for the Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives.
He holds a master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Ohio State University and a bachelor of arts in Political Science from Southern Illinois University.

Lunch admission is $30 for members and their guests who reserve; $35 for members and their guests who do not reserve before deadline (walk-ins); and $35 for non members (cash only).
