It was a Tico Casamayor Takeover of Town Hall on May 14.
The Miami Lakes town council honored him for his extensive volunteering for causes that include boosting business and helping elders and veterans.
Mayor Manny Cid described him as “someone who makes people feel important, good and loved…[he] has made people’s dreams come true.”
Casamayor received a standing ovation from friends and members of Business Networking International Miami Lakes, who chanted his name and wore “Team Tico” T-shirts emblazoned with a photo from his body building career.
“You can see how our business community has come together,” Cid said. “He is the glue.”
Casamayor leads ribbon cutting events for new businesses; volunteers with BNI and the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce; has worked (sometimes in costume) with former Elderly Affairs Committee chair Dottie Wix and with Pedro Fiallo and the Miami Lakes Veterans Committee.
He also records events in photos that are published by the town and The Miami Laker.
Cid proclaimed May 16 as ‘Tico Casamayor Day.’
Casamayor thanked his friends, the council, town staff and his family.
