Town announces Best of Miami Lakes winners

       The Town of Miami Lakes and its Economic Development Committee revealed the winners of the 4th Annual Best of Miami Lakes awards in December, after more than 2,700 voters made their choices.

     The contest results include some new winners as well as fan favorites from around town.

     First time winners include The Nail Garden, in the Best Beauty category.   

     The salon is at 13969 NW 67th Ave. in the Lake Patricia Shopping Center.

     “I’m so excited about this, it means a lot to me [to win],” said Olga Alvarez, owner of The Nail Garden who is shown at right. “Our salon is different, and I think that’s why people come here. I have a waiting list.”

     She is opening a second salon in early 2021 at 6600 Main St., and has a Pembroke Pines location too.

     Finalists were Signature Nails, Salon De Soleil, Polish Beauty Bar and Bogy’s Hair Salon.

     The Best Professional Service Provider category welcomed another first-time winner, Prestige Windows & Doors.

     The company is located at 8232 Commerce Way.

     Runners-up in the category were Dieguez & Associates, CPA by Choice and First Origin Mortgage Lenders.

          Another first-time winner is Mayor’s Café, which earned the Best Café/Cup of Coffee category.

    The restaurant opened at the Royal Oaks Plaza in April 2019.

     “It solidifies everything we’ve tried to do,” said Danny Delgado, a co-owner with Miami Lakes Mayor Manny Cid and Councilman Jeffrey Rodriguez.

     “We are thankful for our customers that support us,” Delgado said. “If you take care of the customer, the customer will take care of you.

     “At Mayor’s, you might walk in as a customer, but our goal is to make you family by the time you walk out,” Delgado said. “Getting this great news in these times we’re in is amazing. It feels good.”

     Finalists were Vicky Bakery; Casavana Cuban Cuisine, Vie de France Bakery & Cafe and Holiday Bakery.

    Also in the Royal Oaks Plaza at 15406 NW 77th Court is Cancun Grill.

    The dining spot serves Mexican cuisine and won Best Dinner Restaurant, a prize they’ve captured before.

      Voters’ favorites included Dr. Limon Ceviche Bar, Sushi Sake, El Pimiento Restaurant and Ken and Mike’s Pizza, Pasta and

More.

  There were two winners in the Cypress Village Shopping Center: FH Fashion House which took home the Best Shopping/Best Retailer category for the second year in a row.

     Voters also like to shop at Miami Lakes Sports Shop; BLACC Boutique, Moda by Pasarella and Drop Boutique.  

      Beverly Hills Café was a repeat winner as the Best Lunch Spot.

      Runners-up were NQC Craft Beer & Grub, Bolay, Pizza Scene and Jersey Mike’s.

     Shula’s Athletic Club, located at 15150 Bull Run Road, won the Best Fitness/Wellness/Gym category again.

     “After over 35 years of service, we are humbled and honored by winning this award,” said Anthony Artiles, general manager at Shula’s Athletic Club. “We would like to thank our club members and the community for their support.

     “This achievement would not be possible without them and the great supporting cast of our staff,” Artiles said.

     Voters also like to work out at Orangetheory Fitness, Caution CrossFit, Crossfit Miami Lakes and Movement Lab.

    The Best Health Provider category also welcomed a past winner, Specialty Smiles.

     The orthodontics office is located in the Windmill Gate Shopping Center, at 16375 NW 67th Ave.

    Voters also chose Lakes Family Eye Care, F.I.T. Therapy, Pediatric Associates and Family Dentistry & Orthodontics of Miami Lakes.
