Town’s Health and Fitness Fair scheduled for Feb. 11

Miami Lakes Elderly Affairs Committee is hosting the 3rd annual Family Health and Fitness Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 11, at Mary Collins Community Center, 15151 N.W. 82 Avenue. 

This year’s fair is sponsored in part by Palmetto General Hospital and the Miami Lakes Chamber of Commerce and will be held in conjunction with “Super Saturday at the Park.” 

Last year’s event drew over 500 attendees to the completely sold out fair with more than 60 local businesses that educated visitors on preventive healthcare and south health practices.
Nicklaus Children’s Hospital, in partnership with local non-profit The Breanna Vergara Foundation, will again provide free EKG screening for children, and Palmetto General Hospital will be providing free blood pressure and glucose screenings.

“Super Saturday at the Park” features a Community Bike Ride sponsored by the Town’s Neighborhood Improvement Committee with registration at 7:30 p.m. prior to the 5-mile famliy-friendly bike ride loop that starts at 8 a.m. 

The weekly Farmer’s Market runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Other activities include Yoga in the Park from 9 to 10 a.m. offered in partnership with local business 305 Yoga, Boot Camp from 10 to 11 a.m. offered in partnership with Fit Like Me Miami, a Mommy & Me Programs demo from 10:30 to 11 a.m. offered in partnership with PEAR Programs, and a Music & Video Production demo from 11 to 11:30 a.m. offered in partnership with the Developing Dreams Foundation.
