Miami Lakes Boy Scout Troop 49’s storage trailer containing all of its camping gear was broken into last week and all the equipment was stolen. This included three cook stoves, eight tents, two large coolers, all propane tanks, fire extinguishers, water jugs, even all the pots and pans.
All of Troop 49’s equipment with a value of nearly $5,000 is also shared with its Cub Pack and an immediate community fundraiser was organized to overcome the loss.

Leaders of Troop 49 extended a heartfelt and sincere “thank you” to the residents and businesses who have stepped up and offered support. Countless residents have said how much Troop 49 is a hallmark in the Miami Lakes community and that their son was in the troop in this year or that.
Troop 49 has 50 years of serving Miami Lakes through scouting. The countess leaders over the 50 years have dedicated their time and effort to building stronger men and citizens for the community, and when the situation was dire for the troop, Miami Lakes responded with help.

Troop 49 meetings are held every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Mary Collins Community Center at Miami Lakes Picnic Park West.
