Miami Lakes United Methodist Church (MLUMC) has hosted the popular Pumpkin Patch and Fall Festival every year for the last 16 years. For the winter of 2013, a new event will be added to the repertoire: Winterfest.

Winterfest launched the day after Thanksgiving, on Friday, November 29, and will run through the entire month of December. Admission is free and open to the public. Winterfest will be open daily from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.

A few of the events taking place at Winterfest include a walk through "Joyful Winterland" an experience of lights, characters and sounds of the holidays, a bonfire and s'mores, concerts and caroling on the weekends, lumberjacks who prepare certified Christmas trees for sale, photo opportunities, a post office for letters to Santa, holiday foods, arts and crafts and more.

A Christmas store will also be on site and will feature a local "Vendor of the Day."  Christmas trees are on sale from November 29 to December 22.  On the first day of Winterfest, a Candy Cane Parade took place along with the official lighting of thousands of lights.

For the second Saturday of Winterfest on December 7, MLUMC is hosting choir performances from local high schools and churches at 7 p.m.  On Friday, December 13, visitors will have the chance to view the Nativity Play featuring MLUMC's youth ministries. On Saturday, December 14, a Craft Fair is taking place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The evening's "Big Bonfire Night" will begin at 7 p.m. Snacks and beverages will be on sale.

MLUMC hopes to garner the same loyal following witnessed for the Pumpkin Patch from Miami Lakes residents and town visitors alike for their newest tradition.
