Boy Scouts from the Miami Lakes area attended a BSA National Youth Leadership Training Program in March held at Camp Elmore in Davie.
Over six days and five nights, the scouts learned advanced corporate team building; leadership and critical thinking and management skills, which they will bring back to their troops.
Fifty young people from Miami-Dade, Broward and Monroe counties attended, said Scout Leader Sean Schwinghammer.
The local scouts were Christopher Cameron, a graduate of American Senior High School and member of Troop 529 in Palm Springs North; Lucas Leon, a rising junior at Divine Savior Academy and member of Troop 43; Aidan Schwinghammer, a rising junior at Barbara Goleman Senior High School and Kevin Hernandez, a rising senior at Hialeah-Miami Lakes Senior High School, who are both members of Troop 566, the elder Schwinghammer said.
Activities included living in tents and team training and competitions. Their reward was an ice cream social. The boys also belong to Sea Scout Ship 144 in Miami Lakes.
