    The Miami-Dade County Library branch in Miami Lakes is offering classes.

     The library at 6699 Windmill Gate Rd. is open Monday - Thursday, 9:30 a.m. - 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, from 9:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Closed Sunday.

Write-Up: Teen Book Reviews  Wed., Oct 30 4 p.m. – 5 p.m.  Read a book and write a review that will appear in the online catalog. Earn 4 hours of community service.  Ages 13 – 18

Spooky Tale and Craft  Wed., Oct. 30  4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Join us as we craft our way into Halloween. Ages 6+

Homework Help & Tutoring   Sat., Nov. 2, 9, 16.    10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  Certified teachers tutor students in reading, math and science for one-hour sessions. For grades K-12. Creating Superhero-worthy Lead Characters: Local Author Series Workshop for Writers  Sat., Nov. 9.  2 p.m. – 4 p.m.  Award-winning writer Kerry Cerra leads a creative writing workshop about strong, well-rounded, lead characters. Ages 16+

Talking is Teaching: Talk, Read, Sing for toddlers en dos idiomas  Tues., Nov. 12, 26. 11 a.m. – Noon.  Toddlers and caregivers will hear stories, sing songs and enjoy activities in both English and Spanish.

Bridging Generations: Art & Conversation  Wed., Nov. 13   4 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.  Guided by a professional artist, elders and kids ages 12+ teens create paintings and connect.  

Tai Chi for Beginners  Fri., Nov. 15.  11 a.m. – Noon. Led by a library staffer, this class of gentle and graceful movements is designed to improve balance, coordination, focus and mental health. Wear loose, comfortable clothing.  Ages 19+

Nutrition and Health Class presented by Feeding South Florida  Tues., Nov. 19  1 p.m. – 2 p.m.  Learn to prepare tasty, nutritious meals and get tips on how to eat healthy while on a budget. Recipes and treats provided for the class. Ages 19+

Talk Crafty to Me!  Thurs., Nov. 21  11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.  Make crafts with other creatives. Ages 19+

Palm Springs North Book Club  Thurs., Nov. 21 5:30 p.m. – 7 p.m.  Meet at the Miami Lakes branch for a monthly discussion on a book that will be available to check out. Call for the title at
