A new Little Free Library has popped up in Lake Martha at a pocket park on Sabal Drive thanks to Ciancy Bernal.

Ciancy, 15, is a sophomore at Archbishop McCarthy High School. It is the second Little Free Library she helped install.

“This summer I did this library [on Sabal Drive] and I’ve started to do book drives at different schools,” Ciancy said.

Literacy is her brand; she shares her love for reading on Instagram @ a.literate.girl and recommends books.

Ciancy and her brother Armando placed the first library in their neighborhood. Ciancy raises money from their neighbors to pay for the boxes, which cost $800.

“Ever since then, I started doing more things geared towards reading,” Ciancy said.

In the Town of Miami Lakes there are 10 Little Free Libraries, which includes the two donated by the Bernals. Now they can watch neighbors fill the libraries with books and take other volumes to read. She recently held a book drive at Town Hall and gave away books at the Mental Health Awareness Fair.
