MLK-8 Center Pianist wins ribbon

     Sarah-Sophia Wong won a blue ribbon at the 2026 Miami-Dade County Fair and Exposition’s Music Competition. Sarah-Sophia, who is in eighth grade at Miami Lakes K-8 Center, won the 1st Prize in the piano solo category held in April at the Herbert & Nicole Wertheim Performing Arts Center at Florida International University. For her solo, Sarah-Sophia performed “Passacaglia” by George Frideric Handel. 

     “Her outstanding performance reflects her dedication and musical excellence,” the school said on social media. Teacher Daniel Escudero said he was “proud of her remarkable achievement.”
